Free agent running back Adrian Peterson is scheduled to visit with the New England Patriots, oh that hurts to write. LeGarrette Blount, last year's Patriots' starter, is an unrestricted free agent, and he’s not getting much attention in free agency. Blount had 299 rushes for 1,161 yards and 18 touchdowns last season, while only fumbling twice in a Super Bowl winning season, but the Patriots haven't tried hard to bring him back.
Peterson is coming off an injury-shortened season, where he only had 37 rushes and had his option declined for the 2017 season by the Vikings, where he’s spent his entire 10 season career, making him a free agent.
Peterson could be headed to the East Coast, as the Patriots have expressed an interest. AP has also visited the Seahawks, who have already signed former Packer and similar-style running back Eddie Lacy. The Seahawks also have the young, balanced style running back in Thomas Rawls, but because of injuries, he hasn’t been able to showcase his talents enough to lock up the starting spot in Seattle.
Peterson has been on a big decline recently, from his suspension due to hitting his son, to just plain old injuries, falling from Hall of Fame level to being available in free agency. He's hoping to turn that around in the upcoming season with a new team, and a fresh start. Here's hoping, however, that's it's somewhere other than New England.
