Miami Beach Bowl
Western Kentucky (11-2) vs. South Florida (8-4), Miami, 2:30 p.m., ESPN
The Spread: Western Kentucky -2.5; South Florida +2.5
Analysis: Western Kentucky has one of the most prolific offenses in the country, averaging 44.2 points and 519.8 yards per game. The Hilltoppers defense isn't too shabby, either, allowing 25 points per game. Western Kentucky has lost just twice this year, to Indiana and LSU, two big programs. Western Kentucky quarterback Brandon Doughty has thrown for 4,594 yards, second most in Division I college football. South Florida is 8-4 on the season but has put together four straight wins, over East Carolina, then-No. 23 Temple, Cincinnati and Central Florida. The Bulls were once 1-3, losing games to Florida State, Maryland and Memphis. When you talk about motivation in bowl games, this is a prime example. South Florida plays in a bigger conference and might even have better talent, but the Hilltoppers will knock out the Bulls Monday.
Brad's Score: Western Kentucky 49, South Florida 35
Craig's Score: Western Kentucky 27, South Florida 20
Glenn's Score: South Florida 24, Western Kentucky 20 (upset pick)
Matt's Score: South Florida 34, Western Kentucky 10 (upset pick)
Famous Idaho Potato Bowl
Akron (7-5) vs. Utah State (6-6), Boise, 3:30 p.m., ESPN
The Spread: Akron +6.5; Utah State -6.5
Analysis: Tuesday afternoon is a strange start time for a sporting event, but if you're home, you won't be complaining about having college football to watch. This might not be the most excited game to watch, however. Akron averages just 24 points per game on offense, allowing 21.5 on defense. Utah State averages 29.7 points per game on offense and 27 on defense. So, this game doesn't have much of a chance to be a high-scoring affair. Akron does come in off four straight wins, beating Kent State, Buffalo, Miami of Ohio and UMass. Utah State has lost three of four, beating Nevada and losing to BYU, Air Force and New Mexico. This is a perfect game to go with the upset.
Brad's Score: Akron 27, Utah State 21 (upset pick)
Craig's Score: Utah State 41, Akron 27
Glenn's Score: Akron 17, Utah State 10 (upset pick)
Matt's Score: Utah State 42, Akron 21
Boca Raton Bowl
Toledo (9-2) vs. No. 24 Temple (10-3), Boca Raton, 7 p.m., ESPN
The Spread: Toledo +1.5; Temple -1.5
Analysis: Both teams enter this game on the same path, winning two of their last four games, with the losses book-ending the wins. Temple is trying to be ranked in the top 25 at the end of a season for the first time in 36 years, so this is a huge game for the program. In their last four, the Owls beat UConn and then-No. 21 Memphis, but suffered a bad loss to South Florida and then lost a chance at a major bowl after losing to then-No. 19 Houston in the AAC championship game. Toledo is 9-2 and comes into this game with losses to Western Michigan and Northern Illinois. Toledo did have a huge win in its season opener, beating then-No. 18 Arkansas 16-12. Both teams will be motivated to win the game, but there is history on the line for the Owls.
Brad's Score: Temple 31, Toledo 28
Craig's Score: Temple 24, Toledo 17
Glenn's Score: Temple 24, Toledo 17
Matt's Score: Temple 56, Toledo 20
