Super Bowl XLIX Expert Selections: Seahawks vs Patriots

February 1, 2015

After two weeks of controversy leading into the Super Bowl, from the very real Deflategate, which the Patriots must be seriously punished for, to the media boycott by running back Marshawn Lynch, we all finally get to watch an actual football game Sunday night, as the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots play for a world championship in Super Bowl XLIX. Our GameDay Is Here staff gives their predictions on the game. To make actual wagers on this game and more, click here.

Seattle Seahawks vs. New England Patriots

Sunday, 6:30 p.m., NBC

Betting Line: Seahawks +1; Patriots -1

Brad Carroll

Seahawks 31, Patriots 28

Both offenses have the ability to put up points, with the Patriots having a slight edge with Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski. Defense is where separation takes place, as Seattle is much better than New England. If Russell Wilson protects the football and Marshawn Lynch enters Beast Mode, the Seahawks will have more than enough on defense to win the game.

Matt Straub

Seahawks 38, Patriots 14

Seattle smothered a better offense last year against the Denver Broncos in the Super Bowl. It takes a little longer this year, but the Seahawks break the Patriots, too.

Craig Carroll

Seahawks 27, Patriots 17

Seattle wants to prove they are no one-hit wonder. New England's two-week long distraction of Deflategate catches up to it, as Tom Brady can't handle Seattle's defense when it matters most. He also can't handle a fully-inflated football.
