Jets at Dolphins Preview: GameDay Staff Picks Winner Against Spread

December 27, 2014

The New York Jets play one more game in the Rex Ryan era Sunday afternoon against the Miami Dolphins on the road. Hopefully, it's the end of the terrible John Idzik era as well. All signs point to both happening, so the Jets will be undergoing a complete change of direction starting Monday. Our GameDay Is Here staff gives their predictions on the game. To make actual wagers on this game and more, click here.

New York Jets (3-12) at Miami Dolphins (8-7)

Sunday, 1 p.m., CBS

Betting Line: Jets +6

Brad Carroll (9-6 straight up, 5-9-1 vs. spread)

Jets 20, Dolphins 17

Rex Ryan deserves to go out as head coach of the New York Jets with a victory, and his players will make sure they come up with one big performance to make it happen. The defense, of course, will show up and be the reason why the Jets will have a shot. Geno Smith will play well, but it's way too late to change the perception of him as nothing more than a backup. Jets win, then change comes Monday.

Matt Straub (6-9, 6-8-1)

Jets 17, Dolphins 14

Rex Ryan deserves nothing else on his way out than a victory in the season finale.

Craig Carroll (9-6, 6-8-1)

Dolphins 17, Jets 14

The Jets tried desperately to give Rex Ryan a going away win against the Patriots, but that didn't happen. The fire won't be the same in Miami and the Jets end a brutal season with 13 losses.

Glenn Carroll (9-4, 5-7-1)

Jets 17, Dolphins 14

Rex Ryan's defense wins this game, another reason why he should be scooped up right away after he unfortunately is fired by the Jets. The offense again is pitiful but the defense and Sheldon Richardson, who is playing with a chip on his shoulder, will get after Ryan Tannehill and the Phins running game.
