Patriots at Jets Preview: GameDay Staff Picks Winner Against Spread

December 20, 2014

Rex Ryan gets one final chance as head coach of the New York Jets to beat Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots Sunday afternoon at MetLife Stadium. The Jets season obviously hasn't gone according to plan, so this game would be their Super Bowl. Our GameDay Is Here staff gives their predictions on the game. To make actual wagers on this game and more, click here.

New England Patriots (11-3) at New York Jets (3-11)

Sunday, 1 p.m., CBS

Betting Line: Jets +10.5

Brad Carroll (8-6 straight up, 4-9-1 vs. spread)

Patriots 27, Jets 17

Even though they typically come up short against the Patriots, the Jets actually play the AFC's best tough nearly every time out. Earlier this season, the Jets had a potential game-winning field goal blocked with no time left against the Patriots. No team has come closer to winning in Foxboro this season. Last year, the Jets beat New England at home in overtime. The Jets won't be able to duplicate that win, however.

Matt Straub (6-8, 5-8-1)

Jets 21, Patriots 17

Without a draft pick to lose for, the Jets honor their soon-to-be former coach with a win over his rival.

Craig Carroll (8-6, 6-7-1)

Patriots 31, Jets 20

The Jets blew their chance at the top draft pick by beating the Titans. The Jets finish against New England and Miami so they should lose both games, giving them a top six pick, but prize quarterback Marcus Mariota almost assurdely will be gone.

Glenn Carroll (8-4, 5-6-1)

Patriots 38, Jets 13

The Jets were their own worst enemy last week, beating the Titans. Now, the chances of Mariota or Winston coming to New York are not looking great. There will be no chance of them doing further damage to the draft order this week.
